So, like, how complicated can a helmet really be, right?! It is supposed to do one thing, and that is to insulate your lil' noggin. Well with every piece of outdoor gear, there is a couple of factors to look at. The things I liked about the Meteor was this:
This helmet was the first one of it's kind to come out with side and back protection as well, making it a great helmet for backcountry skiing
It was really lightweight - only 8 oz!
Has good ventilation systems and goggle/headlamp systems
I use this helmet from everything ranging from rock climbing to backcountry skiing. I do, however, have a couple issues with the helmet. The first is that, while I got the M/L size, I can barely wear it with a hat on. I do have a big head, and let's face it, a s*#t ton of hair on my head, but I wish I had a bit more room. The other issue is that dang magnetic buckle. Sure it is easy to clip, but rock and sand particles are magnetic too sometimes. I've had a climb where I was halfway up my lead of a 5.10 pitch, and my helmet strap just flat out came undone because so many rock particles had gotten in the clip. Really bad, I was so mad. I've been meaning to take the magnets out, as I think this will be still fully functional and solve this problem.
Pros:
Lightweight
Great safety features
Good ventilation
Good google/headlamp system
Cons:
M/L only fits a thin hat under it for me
The magnetic buckle attracts too many dirt particles. I am going to take it out and let you all know how it works!
