My 2018 Aconcagua team - most of us were wearing Cirque pants on this climb!
The Cirque has been my go-to winter pant since 2018. I got my first pair for my Aconcagua attempt and have never looked back since. I use this pant to backcountry ski in the winter, and whenever I'm doing any other winter activities that don't involve rain or sitting on chairlifts. (I have rode lifts with them, but my butt gets very cold and wet when I do!) These pants are warm enough for cold weather, well below freezing, and I can layer base layers underneath if I need. Usually, these pants avoid sweat as well, but eventually in the spring I switch to my Halle pants when it gets warm enough.
The only thing I wish I had in these pants was an integrated connection point for my beacon and a pocket that fit a beacon well. I can fix the connection point easy enough by sewing one in myself, but my pockets don't quite fit a beacon comfortably. At least, they don't fit my Barryvox, they may fit a Tracker 3 well. Another complaint by some is that they don't have a side zip, however I've found that mine breathe so well that I don't miss one.
Most of my backcountry skiing is done in Cirques. Gotta love 'em!
PROS:
Warm for winter activities
Breathes well
Pockets are big enough to fit most things I need
Bottom of pant fits around my ski boots
Tough material at the bottom on the inside of the pant has lasted me a while
CONS:
SIZING is OR's weak point, let's be honest... I love what I get from them but finding a good size for these pants was hard. At one point I had a Large, but they rubbed against my hips weird and I went to a Medium. I've been happy with the Medium, but they're long and I roll them up a lot.
Needs a better beacon pocket
Some want a side zip, but I don't miss that
